Stonepeak Closes BMO Finance Deal, Launches Longview Capital Solutions
Stonepeak has finalized its purchase of BMO's U.S. and Canadian equipment finance units, rebranding the combined operation as Longview Capital Solutions.
Alternative investment firm Stonepeak has completed its acquisition of BMO Financial Group's Transportation Finance and Vendor Finance businesses in the United States and Canada, the company announced. The newly independent entity has been launched under the name Longview Capital Solutions, marking a significant expansion of Stonepeak's infrastructure-focused portfolio into commercial equipment finance.
Longview is positioned as a commercial equipment finance platform with operations spanning North America. The transaction transfers two established lending businesses from one of Canada's largest banks into the hands of an infrastructure-focused private investment manager, a deal structure that reflects a broader trend of traditional banks divesting specialty finance units to alternative asset managers seeking yield-generating, asset-backed portfolios.

The Dallas-based Longview will operate independently following the close.
For BMO Financial Group, which trades on both the Toronto Stock Exchange and New York Stock Exchange, the divestiture continues a pattern among major Canadian banks of streamlining U.S. operations and redirecting capital toward core banking priorities. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed in the announcement.
